XM HD Surround Sound

Surround Sound from the Sky

XMHD is the only surround-encoded content offered by XM and represents the largest surround music catalog in the world. Currently available on Channels 76 and 113, with select programming on Channel 200, XMHD provides more than 25,000 hours of surround music content a year.

Neural Surround is the format of choice for many broadcasters because it preserves an artist’s content and can be implemented without expensive equipment upgrades. It is also supported by a majority of consumer surround-capable radios. This means you could be listening to a Neural Surround broadcast TONIGHT.

How can I enjoy XMHD in full surround

You need a home theater receiver that supports Neural Surround with either XM Connect & Play or XM Passport with an active XM subscription. Most home receivers also support Neural Surround via auxiliary and CD stereo inputs. So if you’re an XM subscriber with a portable radio like Inno™ or MyFi™, simply plug your device into a Neural Surround enabled system.

What happens if I listen to XM stereo channels in Neural Surround mode?

In your multi-channel home theater, the Neural Surround algorithm will present all of the depth and envelopment of a stereo recording--just the way the artist intended. And you’ll enjoy an enhanced experience on audiophile quality channels such as Vox, Classics, Watercolors, Cinemagic and others.

CUSTOMER QUOTES
"...I was very impressed with the quality of sound... especially when using the Neural-THX Surround mode... many channels, especially the XM HD Surround-encoded channels sounded quite good, both in terms of enveloping surround and fidelity."
- Darryl Wilkinson, Home Theater Mag, October, 2007
